Pastor Shaun Reed

     Youth Pastor

Alrighty then, a little about me...Well I was born in Ludington, MI and raised in Scottville. I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at a Judah’ s Lion concert at Beacon Ministries when I was 18 years old and have never looked back. I eventually realized that there was a call of God on my life for Youth Ministry and I have been the youth minister at BMI since 2001. I absolutely love it! I am expectant and working towards raising up a generation of Jesus-loving teenagers that will not be silent, weak, or passive. I desire to see an active, outspoken, yet humble generation take its place in the world as movers and shakers in whatever area God has called them too.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Mindy since October, 25th of 2003. We have two incredible boys. My family is the most important thing to me other than Jesus.
Some of my other interests include baseball, real American history, mixed martial arts, and fishing. My favorite movies are the Star Wars movies, my favorite book changes all the time, but there is a couple that have impacted my life. One of those is Peace Child by Don Richardson and the other is The Next Door Millionaire by Thomas J. Stanley. They are totally different books that impacted my life in totally different ways.
My favorite quote changes all the time too, but right now it would be Winston Churchill’s “If you are twenty years old and not a liberal then you don’t have a heart. If you are forty years old and not a conservative then you don’t have a brain.”

Rev. Mike Genung

     Elder

After living a life that was . . . well . . . let’s say not very godly, full of pride and self-centeredness, 1994 started a turn of events that has brought me to where I am today. When you learn to let go and truly start to seek out the truth, I mean the real truth, regardless to what you may think or what you might think you know, God has a way of showing up and leading you on a path where the gate is narrow, but very attainable.

I’m into Harleys and napping in my hammock on nice summer days, but more then all that, I love preaching the Gospel and sharing the hope of Glory with all who will listen (even with some that don’t). My wife of thirty years and I love to travel, see and meet new people, and just be a part of what God is doing in these last days. It’s exciting! I am honored and privileged to be called a son.

Linda Whitaker

     Elder

I was blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage with my husband Joe Whitaker in October of 2015. We have four children who all are married and with their spouses also serve in the ministry at Beacon Ministries. I am also blessed with 7 grand daughters and 1 grandson. I have a wonderful little Shih Tzu dog named Jozianna. Things I enjoy doing are gardening, baking, watching my grandkid’s ball games, and spending time with family. I have had the privilege of teaching Sunday school at Beacon Ministries for more than 20 years. I also serve as an Elder at Beacon.

Joan Edwards

     Director of Helps Ministry

I have been married 54 years. We have 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. One of the big joys I have is cooking for them all. Tacos and wet burritos are one they all enjoy. Chicken dinner is also a favorite. I love to read the Word, one of my favorite scriptures is Mark 9:23. It's fun to read facebook and keep up with friends. I get a lot of satisfaction encouraging people to be all they can be in God and praying for healing for people. My hobbies are reading and watching movies. I enjoy autobiographies. My favorite movie currently is The Help. The quote I like right now is, "It's appointed unto man once to die, but we don't have to let the devil set the appointment."

Melissa Griffis

     Worship Leader

I've been honored to lead our passionate Worship team and the congregation of BMI since 1995, occasionally playing an instrument like the flute or writing Word based songs of Praise and Worship. I love to spend time in His Presence and flowing with the team in spontaneous times of worship to the King of Kings. I've been married to my best friend Mike for 30 years this coming October. We love long car rides, especially to the Great Smoky Mountains and browsing at antique stores along the way. I love to read, especially my favorite  book, A.W. Tozer's The Pursuit of God, which I like to read on an annual basis. I enjoy cooking, baking, eating 1 or 2 raw vegan mono meals of fruit every day (persimmons are my recent favorite) and most of all spending time with my family. One of my favorite quotes is one by Bert Farias a couple of years ago, "Truth always sounds like hate to those who hate the Truth."

Lyetta Genung

     Elder

I met my husband Michael in 1984 and married a few years later. We are blessed to have three daughters and two sons, seven grandsons, three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. I love serving God in our local house as an Elder and Sunday school teacher to the toddles. One of the best things in my life has been helping raise some of the grandchildren in the past and still helping today. For employment I have been a hairdresser for 40 years, and the last eight years have been the most fulfilling as I work in a nursing home taking care of resident’s hair. I have been able to share the Word with so many there, prayed and cried with them. I am so happy that God has blessed me so that I am able to fulfill the call of ministry there. One of my favorite scriptures is 3 John 2. God woke me to that scripture early in my walk with Him. My other favorite things are “Rosie Brown” my little shih tzu, movies would be “White Nights” and “Star Wars”, and book would be the Bible, traveling to Florida in the winter months with my husband for some rest, and this saying I have hanging in my living room wall “Life is not measured by the breaths we take but the moments that take our breath away” Love, love, love this!

MaryLou Eppard

     Elder

MaryLou lives with her toy cockapoo, Hannah Hosanna, two cats, Ruffles and Baruk, and canary, Zamar. Her favorite quotes are one by Pastor Tammy, "There is power in consistency," and one she wrote herself, "You won't do what it takes to change -- until the pain of changing is less than the pain of remaining the same." Two of her favorite books are Experiencing the Depth of Jesus Christ by Jeanne Guyon and Possessing the Gates of the Enemy by Cindy Jacobs. Her favorite scriptures are Ephesians 3:16-19 and Jude 24-25.
